Speaking at Brookhaven Wesleyan Church

I have a question for you, have you ever just felt yourself being carried along by the Lord? Have you ever felt His arms around you and had Him open your eyes to just who you can be if you would only put all your trust in Him?

God did a great work in our lives this Sunday. We were given the opportunity to speak at Brookhaven Wesleyan Church, which is our home church here in Indiana. We spent Saturday night until the wee hours preparing for our message, practicing, praying, and setting up the presentation that we would be giving in front of the church. Needless to say, we were exhausted when we entered the church at 7:30 A.M. to set up our display.

But this is where the miracle happened. In our exhaustion, and also our nervousness at having to speak in front of all of our friends and family, God gave us a peace about our message. We realized that all we had to do was share the passion that God has placed on our lives for His mission in Cambodia. God would do the rest. He would pull the hearts of the audience, moving them to involve themselves in the ministry in Cambodia.

And that is exactly what He did. He took our words, and like the loaves and fish, He multiplied them. He brought so many people forward as partners in the Cambodian ministry. He reminded us again that He does not make mistakes. He called us to serve Him, and we know that He will provide all the support we need. He carried us this day, and encouraged us to keep depending on Him for all our needs as missionaries in His service.

We want to say thank you to all those people who attended our commissioning and presentation. It was very encouraging to look out into the audience after we were commissioned and see the faces of friends and family, and know that they were behind us as we go out to serve God in Cambodia. It was a great weekend, and we hope that reading about how God carried us gives you encouragement to allow Him to do the same for you.

Confidence, Peace, and Hope

This quote has great meaning for us at this juncture of our lives. It is easy to get down about the amount of support that we are still lacking. It is easy to fall into a trap, thinking that this all might be impossible. But this quote shows us a very important truth about the God who created not only us but the rest of the world as well. It shows us that God’s timing is perfect, and that we, as His children, only need to wait on Him with patient and trusting hearts, knowing that His goodness will always overcome all.

That gives us hope for the future and a peace for the present, two commodities that are lacking in so many people in this day and age. Thus, our focus on sharing the hope that we have with Jesus Christ as our Savior is so important. People weren’t meant to be alone in this world. We all need Jesus Christ, everyone… no exceptions.

Miracle Camp 2005 - Theme: Black Ice

Black Ice is a very slick patch of ice that is difficult to see; making cars slide off the road with no warning and people fall on their bottoms in a blink of an eye.

Black ice happens all the time in our lives-one moment we are strong and sailing through life… and the next minute we are down for the count; wondering how we fell so hard, so fast?

Nothing in our life happens with out God first approving of it. One of my favorite examples of this comes from Max Lucado’s book “An Angel’s Story.” Here Satan is boasting of his “deeds” and God points out how the “Black Ice” that Satan made us fall on, became blessings…

God to Satan: “Crafty? Perhaps… but effective? No. I know what you will do even before you do it. I used the betrayal of Joseph to deliver My people from famine. Your banishment of Moses became he wilderness training. And yes, David did commit adultery with Bathsheba-but he repented of his sin! And thousands have been inspired by his example and found what he found –unending grace. Your deceptions have only served as platforms for My mercy. You are still my servant, Satan. When will you learn? Your feeble attempts to disturb My work only enables My work. Every act you have intended for evil, I have used for good.”

Romans 5:3-5
“Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.”
When we don’t understand, when we can’t see His plan, when we can’t trace His hand…
Will we dwell on our sufferings? Continuing to ask Him “Why?”
Or will we start asking, “What am I to learn?” and achieve a higher perspective by tapping into God’s resources, allowing Him to make something positive out of a negative situation?

We had a great time at Miracle Camp this year. We loved hanging out with the kids and watching them draw closer to God in their daily walk. 

Miracle Camp 2005

We had a great Christmas. Here we were able to spend time at Tiffany's Dad's house. It was a great time to see everyone and share the Lord's blessings. 

We also had a great time with our families back in Ohio. At Matt and Mindy's, Tim's brother and sister-in-law, we were able to spend the Christmas with our new nephew. Consider yourself lucky, this is probably the cutest picture that will ever be published on our website.  

We met the Martins when they volunteered to host missionaries during orientation. Over the past six months, we have been adopted into their family, and we enjoy being their kids. Recently, Greg underwent double bypass surgery. Remember Greg and Cathy in your prayers as they go through the rehabilitation. 

Sabrina, the Martin's cat, is always there to welcome us when we visit. Her love and affection is always appreciated. 

We had a great time in Fishers with the Martins. Here, Cathy models something from the new "Nanook of the North" clothing line.
