God is Good

Dear Friends and Supporters,

When I think about all of the messages that have been posted on this blog, I can see that they all have something in common. Some people might say that it is bad grammar, and I would have to answer “yes, you are right, but that wasn’t the one that I was thinking about.”

A verse in Psalm 145 reads “Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness. MSG” This verse made me think about this website and what its real purpose is. It is a tool with which we can communicate with our friends and supporters, especially while we are overseas, sharing words and pictures to let people know what is happening in our lives. However, that is not its main function.

This website’s main function is to bear witness to the greatness of God in heaven. This is the one commonality in all of the posts. God works awesome miracles in our lives everyday, and one of our responsibilities, as the recipients of these blessings, is to tell others about them.

Since returning from our 45 days in the Dakota District, God has provided three very remarkable and unique opportunities to share with churches. Before we left for the Dakotas, one of Tiffany’s neighbors in Bluffton approached us, offering us the opportunity to speak to his church. We accepted his offer, and the weekend after we returned, we traveled home to visit family and to share with this church. We were worried that our message would be boring because we did not have PowerPoint or slides to show while we spoke, but God spoke through us that chilly morning and provided the message for that congregation. We had a great time sharing with those brothers and sisters at Beaverdam Church of Christ, and we look forward to meeting with them again in the future.

The following weekend, we were privileged to speak at the missions conference at Lakeview Wesleyan in Marion. On the Friday night of the conference, the organizers had planned a time for children and parents to experience missions together through a dinner and a children’s missions fair. We were to be the speakers after the dinner. We knew that our normal message would not be appropriate for this group, and we began to think of alternatives. God again gave us the perfect message for this group in the form of a game called “A Walk through Cambodia”, which we used to share about the culture and people of Cambodia using pictures and the participants’ powers of observation and recollection. We had a great time sharing, and we were so encouraged to see children, parents, and grandparents working together, learning about Cambodia.

Most recently, we traveled to Chicago to speak to Broadview Wesleyan in Chicago. We were working one day when the pastor from this church called us, inviting us to speak at their missions fair; we did not know how he got our name. He told us later that his wife was searching for missionaries on the Global Partners website and thought that we looked like a cute and interesting couple, which made us think that either she wasn’t wearing her glasses at the time or God really wanted us at this church. We had a great time sharing at the church during the weekend, and we learned that both the church and several members of the congregation would be joining our support team. God is so good.

This post has been lengthy, but we feel that God deserves all of the praise and glory. He provided every speaking engagement, every word of this post, and every good thing that has happened in our lives. We hope that your hearts have been encouraged by these words, and we hope that you visit again to hear more about the great works of our Almighty God in Heaven.
