Ministry in Takeo

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Several weeks ago, we were invited to a cell group meeting in Takeo, a province south of Phnom Penh. This cell group has only been open for several weeks, and we were honored to be invited by Pastor Poleak to their Saturday meeting. For this Saturday meeting, many people took a break from their work, and we were very happy to talk with them and share with them the message of Jesus Christ as Savior for all people.

Tim shared with the people the story of the crippled man who was let down through the roof by his four friends, citing the faith and love of these men and Jesus’ reaction to it. The message of a God who is not only capable of love, but who loves generously is one that is different than any religious message these people, many of whom are still practicing Buddhists, have ever heard. However, it was a blessing to have them come to hear the Good News, and to see them considering the story about this man Jesus who is at the center of our faith.

Tiffany spoke about God as Creator of all things, the world, the sun, the earth, humans and all of the animals. As an example of Creation, she gave playdough to several of the nearly seventy children who attended the children’s lesson and asked them to sculpt an animal to see the difficulty in actually creating something with their hands. Here, you are seeing Chany giving instructions to the students.

This boy, once he actually picked an animal that he wanted to sculpt, was the winner of the challenge, forming a very nice green snake with his clay. When asked, he said that it was very difficult to sculpt, not only because he had trouble working with the clay, but also because he could not think of an idea of what kind of animal to make.

After the competition, Tiffany took the children through an interactive telling of the story of Creation and the coming of Jesus to restore Man to a right relationship with God. Here you are seeing Tiffany helping the boy who played God create the “heavens and the earth.” After explaining about God’s creation and the sins of man, she told about how God lovingly sent His Son Jesus to save us all from our sins. The story had a powerful impact with the children and with the adults who were also watching.

We want to thank all of you who continue to pray for us and support our ministry here in Cambodia. Days like our day in Takeo would not be possible without your encouragement, prayers, and financial support. God bless you all, and thank you again for reading about God’s greatness and His ministry here in Cambodia.

In Christ,
Tim and Tiffany Gallant
