From Rapid City to Ohio

At the end of our second trip out the Dakotas, God blessed us with the opportunity to speak to First Wesleyan in Rapid City. We had spoken to this church when we were in South Dakota in September, but when the pastor learned that we would again be in the district, he allowed us to be a part of his missions conference. We really appreciate all that Pastor Mike Schultz has done for us in the past, and we felt privileged to be invited to share again with his great congregation there in Rapid City.

Included in the events of the missions conference was a dinner on Friday night, a breakfast on Saturday morning, and then the Sunday worship services with an international dinner following. We shared on Friday night to a group of families about the culture of Cambodia as we all took another “Walk through Cambodia.” Then we were involved in a missions fair where the children experienced different cultures and foods from around the world.

On Saturday morning, we were involved in a breakfast sponsored by the church. The theme of the missions conference was “Neighborhoods to Nations” and the church exemplified this theme by sending out invitations all over the neighborhood, inviting people to the church for a free breakfast. It was great to see the church reaching out to the community in such a manner. It was also a blessing to be at First Wesleyan because we could meet with our friends Jeremy and Amber Johnson and their new baby. We met them during our last trip to the Dakotas, and it was good to see them again.

On Sunday morning, we shared with the congregation of the church, giving a short update on the ministry in Cambodia and telling them where we are in our fundraising. After sharing, we went downstairs to share with the children’s church while Jim Eckart, a missionary from Nicaragua shared for the rest of the service. It was a great time at First Wesleyan where we were able to touch base with several supporters. We were also able to talk with Eckarts about missionary life, gaining insights on ministry and living overseas that will be very valuable.

It took almost a full day to travel home from the Dakotas, and we arrived home in time for a meeting down at headquarters. We were also able to connect with our adopted parents Greg and Cathy Martin down in Fishers which was a blessed time of relaxation and fun after a long time of travelling. We then went home to spend the Easter holiday in Ohio. The following pictures are from the time that we were able to spend with our families, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We hope that your Easter was also enjoyable. We have been able to share with two churches in Ohio during the past weeks, so we will be doing another post in the next few days concerning the happenings at these churches.

Until we meet again,
Tim and Tiffany Gallant
