August 23rd- New Blog Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We want to thank you once again for visiting our website to hear the stories of the happenings here in Cambodia. We have updated our picture page, so if you click here, or on the 2008 Gallant Pictures link on the right hand margin, you will be able to view these pictures. This past week was full of activity surrounding our living quarters. First of all, as you might have read in our prayer card, we moved from the house that we have been living in for the past two years. On Saturday, the 16th, the movers came to help us move our furniture and items to the new WBI building where we will store them for the time that we are in the United States. In the picture above, you are seeing a few of the workers and Tim lowering the couch over the railing to the truck waiting below.

The move went very smoothly, beginning at 6:30 in the morning and finishing about 11:30. After a short break, we prepared to take the remainder of our things to our new apartment. When we arrived at our place, we were greeted with the site that can be seen in the picture to the right, about 8” of water outside of our house and about 5” on the inside. What made it even more difficult was the fact that we could not do anything to remove the water because the water on the outside had not yet begun to recede. Added to all of this, it was beginning to rain again. We will call that point in time, the low point of the day.

We stayed the night in a guest house, and then we returned to begin cleaning up the house. It took us about half of the day to bail all of the water, clean under the furniture and then prepare a small dike of sandbags in front of our house that would prevent further floods. That was Sunday, and on Monday we began to work from the new apartment, business as usual, language school, meetings, etc. However, on Thursday of this week, we suffered another hardship; our new apartment was broken into, just 5 weeks after our previous house was broken into while we were away. While we were at language school at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the thieves took the ministry money that we had kept in our house; however we praise the Lord because He protected us, not allowing us to come home in the middle of the robbery where they might have hurt us.

In the middle of all of this trouble, we still know that God is good and that His Will is for us to be here in Cambodia. We continue to strive forward in encouraging the national leadership and the pastors. We continue to supervise the construction of the new WBI Building. We continue to trust in Him, to have confidence in Him, because we know that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is always dependable.

Once again, we want to thank you for reading, for praying, for supporting and for your encouragement. You are a blessing to us.

God Bless You All,
Tim and Tiffany Gallant
